JLGC will be at this year’s Hyper Japan, where visitors can get a taste of regional culture from Japan. The event is the largest J-culture festival in the UK and as well as being able to “immerse yourself in Tokyo cool”, visitors can also learn more about the recovery of the Tohoku region affected by the 2011 Earthquake and Tsunami.

The Japan Local Government Centre is the London office of CLAIR – the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations. CLAIR is a joint agency of cities and regions working to promote international learning and partnerships, particularly around the revitalization of local and regional areas through sustainable growth and development, as well as common challenges of public service reform, governance, demographic change and the low carbon society.

CLAIR was founded in 1989 with the support of Japan’s Ministry of Home Affairs (now the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications). With its head office in Tokyo, it has branch offices in each of Japan’s 47 prefectures and 20 designated cities, and also has seven overseas offices – in Beijing, New York, Paris, Singapore, Seoul, Sydney and London.

We are also involved in implementing the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) programme, which employs European graduates in the fields of international exchange and English language education in Japan.

You can follow JLCG and find out the latest about CLAIR, the JET programme and more on Facebook and on Twitter.
