TOKYO GOES ON: Experience Tokyo Just As It Was Before the Earthquake

Yes! TokyoDon’t be afraid to come to Tokyo! Many British people have already visited Tokyo after the Tohoku Pacific Earthquake of March 11, and had an amazing time there, just as visitors did before the earthquake. At HYPER JAPAN 2011, being held in London this July, the Tokyo Tourism Representative will host a stand so you can see and feel the current situation in Tokyo.

  • Comments, photographs and video clips from British people who have actually been to TOKYO after the earthquake make up a ‘travel diary’ that will share with you the many things you can experience in Tokyo right now. These scenes of Tokyo as it is today show that none of the famous sights have been affected by the disaster.
  • There will also be an exhibition which will give visual information on the condition of Tokyo’s radiation levels, waterworks, electricity, transport and other infrastructure. Any feelings of uncertainty about visiting Tokyo will surely be alleviated.
  • Message board on which HYPER JAPAN visitors can write their messages of support for Japan and Tokyo
  • At the stand there will be guidebooks and maps giving the most up-to-date information to take away with you.

Unfortunately, the earthquake and subsequent issues have had a serious effect on the economies of Tokyo and Japan as a whole, and the decrease foreign tourist numbers has added to the extremely difficult situation the country is in.

Please come and visit the Tokyo Tourism Representative stand at HYPER JAPAN 2011.
