World Cosplay Summit 2013 UK Preliminary at HYPER JAPAN

2012 marks the 10 year anniversary of the World Cosplay Summit, the world’s most famous and longest running international cosplay competition, held annually in Nagoya, Japan. This year, the UK joined the competition for the first time, along with newcomers Russia and Indonesia.

The preliminary round was held at HYPER JAPAN 2012 Spring, with Laura Sindall and Alexander Rutter beating off stiff competition to become the very first World Cosplay Summit UK representatives and win a trip to the final in Japan! If you would like the chance to participate we have good news – the next WCS Preliminary will take place at HYPER JAPAN 2012 Christmas!

More than just a contest, WCS is a week-long series of events, with pairs of cosplayers from each country taking part in activities such as parades, photo shoots, press conferences and TV appearances, as well as having the chance to enjoy and experience Japanese culture first hand.

The grand finale is the World Cosplay Summit Championship, when the cosplayers perform on stage at the outdoor Oasis 21 arena in front of an audience of 20,000, competing for the coveted title of “World Cosplay Summit Champion”!

At World Cosplay Summit 2012, our UK representatives will join 40 other cosplayers from 20 different countries, with more added every year. It’s a fantastic opportunity to meet like-minded cosplayers from all over the world and share a unique experience.

The next WCS preliminary will be held at HYPER JAPAN 2012 Christmas.
Pairs of cosplayers will be able to compete for the chance to represent the UK at the next World Cosplay Summit in 2013. To take part, you must live in the UK or have a British passport. Full rules and entry forms will go up on the site by July 1st, 2012. Entries will open on September 1st, 2012.
