AmeCon This Weekend!

AmeCon, the UK's largest residential fan led convention dedicated to the celebration of Japanese anime and manga, and the community that these media bring together, is back for 2012.

The weekend-long AmeCon timetable is packed with attendee-run events providing new insights, or alternative viewpoints, on a variety of related subjects. The organizers are sure that all events will provide a great way for fans of anime and manga to connect with likeminded people, not to mention AmeCon’s legendary parties every night!

This year’s events include a games room, pub quiz, charity auction, art room, and art dealer zone. Evening happenings not to miss include an AMV Disco, and of course the climactic End of Amecon Party. Other highlights include a Tofu Cute snack tasting panel, a Yuri panel, and an amateur voice acting event.

Cosplayers will be excited to learn that the EuroCosplay Qualifier Event will also be taking place at AmeCon, where one of England’s best cosplayers will be selected to represent our country in the next EuroCosplay Championships. More details can be found here.

Above all else, AmeCon states that it is, “An event that is run by fans, for fans, and would be nothing without the fans.” AmeCon channels  any revenue it makes into making the event even more exciting for it's dedicated attendees.

AmeCon will be held at Keele University, Staffordshire, from the 10th-12th August.
